"I apply myself to take abroad the true essence of Made in Italy. And that can not be reduced to a brand. It should manifest itself in excellence. This is what the world expects from the Italians"

--- Angelo Inglese

Ginosa is a small village in Puglia, the so-called heel of Italy's boot. It is known to some for its Gravina, an amazing archeological formation of ravines, with caves and churches carved into the rock. It is also home to G. Inglese, a small haberdashery and shirt maker that had been known of sartorial aficionados for years but was catapulted into the headlines last year when Angelo Inglese was selected by Prince William to make his wedding shirt.

In Southern Italy, sartorial taste usually comes with a dose of flair and color. Angelo Inglese is no exception to that rule - he is a man of great taste and panache. His desire to perpetuate traditions and skills transmitted from his grandfather often pushes him to wind back the clock, dig out archives and replicate patterns and details that are now very much gone from the world of shirtmaking. We have seen a lot of high end shirts, and had never seen a handmade shirt like G. Inglese's - entirely cut and sewn by hand using the best swiss fabrics. It is no wonder to us that it was deemed fit for a prince.

The current sartoria was founded by Angelo's father Gianni in 1955 and Angelo was unexpectedly called to take the reins at the young age of 23 when his father passed away. In the last few years, he has been taking his shirts around the world, showing off the extent of his workshop's talent and gathering enthusiasm from Tokyo to London. We are proud to be able to introduce these one-of-a-kind shirts to our US customers for the first time.
