Rota may not be a household name for most men outside of Italy. They don’t really do much marketing or advertising, and trousers rarely steal the spotlight in the world of menswear. But some of the best dressed men in Italy swear by their cut and quality, like Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the chairman of Ferrari, who is often seen wearing Rota pants.

The company was founded in 1962 by Ampelio Rota, with the intention of promoting trousers from an afterthought to a leading role in a man’s closet. Fifty years later, they still make nothing but pants. Their trousers are cut in the trim, rakish, Italian style, and made with fabrics of unusual quality and distinction.

Each pair of trousers is entirely made in the company workshop in Fidenza near Parma, under the supervision of the Rota brothers. Their production methods have not changed since the company’s founding: expert tailors cut and sew the trousers, followed by careful and skilled pressing to create the desired shape and lines.

Quality fabrics help maintain the shape of the trousers over time. Rota’s permanent and seasonal fabric collections are selected from the finest cottons, flannels, twills and worsted. And, in line the company’s philosophy that trousers need not take the backseat to jackets, Rota always includes colorful fabrics and bold patterns for customers who fancy creativity below the belt.
