"This is what Wythe's all about, capturing the essence of those vintage pieces we see referenced time and time again in a way that really does the source justice. Their balmacaan has these voluminous, raglan shoulders that have a shape of their own, rather than falling inanimately on the wearer. It's something we don't see enough in modern bals and I think what sets this coat apart from the others. Well, that, and the custom barleycorn tweed we chose to make up this season's version. That's just icing on an already really tasty cake."---Ludwin

About this Maker

Wythe

A forward-thinking exploration of lost Americana

It’s not unusual to dream about clothing icons of the past, but it is unusual to find them sitting in front of you, exactly as you’d imagine them through rose-tinted lenses, ready to be worn and broken in for a new generation. Wythe is an individual pursuit into finding and creating this lost Americana, remaking heirlooms of the past to fit well today and last through tomorrow.

With a passion for materials and craft, designer Peter Middleton goes out of his way to put his signature taste in all of the styles, from developing an all-new exclusive ombre tweed with a family-owned mill in Donegal, Ireland to custom dying moleskin to get the perfect shades.

Even if the styles reflect the past, the production looks to the future. The authentic Shetland yarns may come from Scotland but production is taken to a female owned and operated atelier in Madagascar, and cottons are sustainably sourced and BCI certified. It’s this kind of forward-thinking that tells us this young brand is focused on the long haul.
