"Inside this garment, sewed in is an inscribed note letting the reader know that this is a molton fabric burned in a decatizing machine. I won't pretend like I knew what those two things were but I will relay my research. Molton fabric is a flame retardant fabric used in drapes and other non-wearables. A decatizing machine is a machine used in the textile industry to keep a clothes finish the same throughout the garment making process without shrinking and what have you. All of this to say, we thought these pants were ill. The molton feels akin to a super sturdy, structured moleskin but much finer of a hand, allowing the light to dance on it's surface. The contrasting burn marks adds a one of a kind aesthetic. Cop the matching jacket for the complete look."---Kenshawn

About this Maker

Frank Leder

This hands-on designer's aesthetic is rooted in German worker wear and traditional fabrics

When people today mourn the disappearance of clothing from the past, they usually mean that businessmen don't wear suits anymore, or professors don't wear tweed anymore, or opera-goers don't wear black tie anymore. Frank Leder looks back to a different kind of aesthetic. Though trained in London, Leder's background and source material are all German.

The historical Germans that interest Leder the most are not just the aristocrats, the class that defined menswear in Britain and therefore the world, but the whole entourage of German society, all the way down to the humblest workers.

Frank Leder is as deeply rooted in the history of his country as any designer working today. His work reminds us that no story is ever truly lost.
